St Theodore

St Theodore by Christopher safi  

Theodore was born 4th century Constantinople died late 4th century Theodore sent a letter which is the first recorded stand against slavery.

Early life
Theodore's uncle Plato was an important official in the imperial financial administration therefore the family had a significant portion of it during the reign of Constantine v

Patron of slaves and poor people
Theodore had 2 younger brothers named joseph and Euthymos he also had a sister whose name we do not know. It has often been assumed that Theodore’s family belonged to the iconicle party during the first period of byzantine iconolisam however there is no evidence that the family belonged to that group.


Religious vocation Theodore made rules for monastery’s that were adopted in Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Mount athos. Later in life Theodore was in an oath for making a sacrifice to the gods. He rejected this and was burnt at the stake.



Gifts and fruits
Theodore shows many gift including courage wisdom and reverence
Wisdom because he showed great knowledge to do what is right, courage because he wasn’t afraid of execution, reverence because he showed great respect to his family. The gifts he shows is peace patience and kindness
Peace because he is peaceful patience because he waits for right moments kindness because he is kind to the poor and the slaves




Personal reflection
I chose this because the name Theodore has run through my family for years it has also been a name I would have had Theodore’s life has been hard my life has problem same as everyone else Theodore’s life has taught me to stand for what I think is right.


Conclusion Theodore’s life was short due to execution because he rejected other Gods
Theodore’s full name is Theodore Tyro. He died by the stake in 826
Gifts and fruits shown are Courage because Theodore is not afraid of execution when rejecting other Gods Peace because Theodore shows peace to others and is willing to help
